Nicaragua Partnership

             Kairos Association for Formation

                                   (Asociación Kairos Para la Formación)

                                           Based in Managua, Nicaragua

                                                  AKF Vision

We believe that the Project of God, which we understand to be a Project of Liberation, in other words a Project that is about the building of a World of Justice and love, is possible.

We desire to contribute to this project, believing that the necessary elements in order to reach this new world are: Formation that provides us with opportunities for conscientization, conversion and empowerment, the spirit of community or working in collectives, and the commitment of laborers for the building of this project.

We believe that every human being is called to be a participant, contributing to the creation of a just world that respects the dignity and value of all people, as well as the earth, nature and all that surrounds us.  We believe in the talents and gifts of each person, and that they are necessary in the collective work in order to have the strength and encouragement to struggle for change until justice truly Reigns.

We believe that living in community and struggling together are necessary, and provide us with the possibility of supporting one another in the task of living our lives in a way that is consistent to our mission.  We believe that the road is made by walking and that on the journey we are all teachers and students.

                            AKF Mission:

To be a School:  that contributes to the construction of a world of justice.

Open to communities, collectives, institutions, churches and other groups, without making distinctions for reasons of color, economic class, age, ethnic, religious, political or sexual identity, who desire to be in search of building a world of justice.

To offer Services, Formation, and Accompaniment that will:

a.    Contribute to a process of conscientization and empowerment.

b.   Create alternatives of life that provide the impoverished opportunities for a life with dignity.

c.    Encourage collective organizing.

a.    Create a space for cultural exchange that permits a change or deepening of how we see the world and our role in this world.

b.   Facilitate dialogue, encounters, and interchange between affinity groups or groups with common interests.

c.    Motivate the creation of movements through providing tools, skills, and knowledge about how to do this.

d.   To create a space that provides Rest that will have positive repercussions in lifting up the hope, encouragement, spirit and strength of the people.

e.    Create a space to facilitate processes of reconciliation with creation and humanity.

Maintain our passion for a more human world of love and justice, and through our our example provoke the same in others.  To be a place of hospitality, hope and joy.

Our experience with AKF has truly been transformative. Through cultural experiences, sharing stories, singing, praying, laughing, and worshipping together we have been reminded of our brothers and sisters in the South.  We have witnessed first hand their struggles and listened as they helped us see our own.

One of our delegations from Nicaragua just returned at the end of November.  Please join us in worship on Jan. 21st at 10:30am as they reflect on their experience.  After worship there will be a power point presentation and lunch.  Come and share in this amazing ministry and learn how you can get involved.
