What's Happening?

Special Moments

Being in ministry together--with families, children, youth--means discovering how to practice the presence of Jesus: to be God's love and grace in our own lives and to share that love and grace with the world around us.  We do that in many ways: Sunday School, Youth Group, mission trips, forums and classes for parents, movie nights and parties for the whole family...and the list goes on!  Life for so many of us is often scattered and hectic and just plain difficult.  We welcome your family into our family of faith and know you'll find strength, joy and faithful companions for the wild and wonderful journey of daily life.  Add your unique gifts to our community--as we celebrate the presence of God in all things.

Youth Ministry

Our Senior High Youth are a lively, spirited, compassionate circle of friends.  They meet each Sunday evening from 6 to 8 pm in their own Youth Room.  Leaders include Cordelia Strandskov, Jamie Langley and volunteers from across the life of our church.  Each summer, the senior high group organizes a week-long mission trip--taking their energies to places like the US-Mexico Border, the Yakima Nation, the urban settings of Atlanta or Chicago.

Worship and Education

We worship at 9:30 am and 11 am every Sunday in our bright and open sanctuary on High Street.  The 9 am service features music by our wonderful sanctuary choir and organist; and the 11 am service features a jazz ensemble playing a range of musical styles from gospel to rock to jazz music.  Children are always (ALWAYS) welcome in worship; and we provide rugs with coloring books and quiet toys for those who want them.  Periodically, we also offer a Creative Family Worship Service, where children are encouraged to remain in worship throughout the hour.  The music, stories and message are all geared towards children of all ages.  During these engaging services, our children participate in many ways, including serving communion to the entire congregation!

Sunday School

Sunday School is offered during the 11 am jazz service.  Children are invited to begin worship in the sanctuary and are escorted to Sunday School in the Upper Room after a children's story and blessing (early in the service).  Once there, they're welcomed by Jacqui Cooper, our Sunday School Coordinator, and other Sunday School helpers.  Every class includes time for sharing, prayer and singing, as well as lessons incorporating bible stories and Christian values and ethics.  Games, crafts, skits and other activities appealing to every learning style are used to convey the message of the day.  After worship, parents are invited to the Upper Room to pick children up and see what they've been working on.  Registration forms for Sunday School are always available, and parent volunteers are welcome to join in the spirit and fun!

Childcare for Younger Ones

At FCC, we welcome and appreciate the sights and sounds of infants and toddlers throughout our worship service!  However, we also provide childcare during every service for parents and children who prefer it.  (Sometimes a mom or a dad are happy to have a little while to think, pray, wonder...)  Childcare is provided by our caring and fun staff in the nursery, on the lower level of the Christian Education building.  Please ask a Sunday greeter, if you need help finding the room.

OCCUPY JESUS!

JESUS, POVERTY & EMPIRE
How did Jesus speak to economic injustice?  What kinds of action did he take in the face of inequality and social unrest?  Join us for a dynamic two-day seminar with Ched Myers and Elaine Enns as we explore economic crisis and the practice of Jesus.
